The adaptation of some existing technologies such as sugarcane-type harvester, jute/reed-type harvesters and forage harvesters for kenaf harvesting has not been successful. These machines apart from being expensive cut kenaf stems into too short fragments. Information regarding machines for kenaf harvesting is rarely found in the literature. In this work, an existing 1.65 kW brush cutter was modified and adapted for kenaf harvesting with the view to developing a low-cost machine for kenaf harvesting. The modifications made include incorporating a suitable metal guard based on the physical properties of kenaf stem and selection of an appropriate serrated blade cutting mechanism. Infoteca-e SOUZA, A. das G. C. de; SILVA, S. E. L. da; SOUSA, N. R.. Avaliacao do desempenho do cacau-do-peru (Theobroma bicolor) nas condicoes edafoclimaticas de Manaus. O plantio foi feito em tres linhas com cinco plantas cada, em espacamento de 6m x 6m, em Latossolo Amarelo. As plantas encontram-se com altura media de 6,9m, variando entre 4,0m a 13,0m. O diametro medio do caule, a 30 cm do solo, e o de copa estao em torno de 13,8cm e 4,0cm, respectivamente. A producao iniciou no terceiro ano apos o plantio, sendo que a media por planta, seis anos apos o plantio, foi de 16,6 futos. Vale ressaltar que tres plantas nao produziram e uma produziu 35 frutos. Agricultural marketing co-operatives are one among a myriad of options that farmers have to market their products, making survival of the co-operative formula to depend on its capability to compete for the farmers’ satisfaction and membership. This research uses Neoclassical Theory and Transaction Costs Theory to propose a number of antecedents of the farmers’ satisfaction with the co-operative and their intention to remain members in the long term.
